Polylactic acid, or polylactide (PLA) is a thermoplastic polyester with backbone formula, formally obtained by condensation of lactic acid with loss of water. It can also be prepared by ring-opening polymerization of lactide, the cyclic dimer of the basic repeating unit. PLA has become a popular material due to it being economically produced from renewable resources. Degradation Possible end of life scenarios are the most common: 1. Recycling: Polylactic acid can be chemically recycled to monomer by thermal depolymerization or hydrolysis. When purified, the monomer can be used for the manufacturing of virgin PLA with no loss of original properties(cradle-to-cradle recycling). 2. Composting: PLA is biodegradable under industrial composting conditions, starting with chemical hydrolysis process, followed by the microbial digestion, to ultimately degrade the PLA. 3. Incineration: PLA can be incinerated, leaving no residue and producing 19.5 MJ/kg (8,368 btu/lb) of energy. 4. Landfill: the least preferable option is landfilling because PLA degrades very slowly in ambient temperatures. Chinese Mid-autumn Festival comes during the National Day holiday, as we call it Double Celebration, which occurs one time every 60 years. Recently it is heavy rain all the days for even two months, resulting in the severe flood in many provinces in China, especially the cities along the Changjiang River suffered much loss. The long-time rains submerge many villages and farmland. As the news reported, it is another difficulty for China being confronted with after the Epidemic since this rainy season is the longest and the most heavy during the last 60years. Here in Tongcheng, due to near to Changjiang River and the heavy rain, we suffered much from this deluge, even a whole village flooded. Being a social responsible company, we donates RMB10,000 to the local Bluesky Rescue(BSR) to do our bit to fighting against this disaster, sincerely hope we could overcome it as early as possible. And we also would like to show thanks to the all front-line staff fighting against the flood. As to the bad weather, we factory can not work normally and also the logistics are affected and delayed badly, hence some orders can not be delivered on time.
