Starting from August 12, 2026, this "strictest ever" packaging law will be directly applied in all 27 member states. Any producer who puts packaged goods on the EU market must follow the rules. This includes cross-border e-commerce sellers, brands, platforms, and logistics providers. Key rules you need to know: Who must comply: Non-EU sellers must have an EU Authorized Representative and take producer responsibility. No over-packaging: For e-commerce parcels, empty space inside cannot exceed 40%. "Big box with small item" is not allowed. Labels and traceability: Packaging must have uniform material codes, recycling marks, EPR registration numbers, and EU Representative info. Digital product traceability codes will be required later.
